K Darlington & Son Ltd

K Darlington & Son Ltd is a family-run tarmac and asphalt surfacing firm based in Bolton that has been operating for over 60 years. David Darlington started a civil engineering company including tarmacadam, concrete and fencing. Ken Darlington joined David in 1955 and they formed a partnership after two years.

Mark Darlington left school in 1986 and was employed by his father Ken, forming a partnership in 1991. The company holds CHAS and SafeContractor accreditations, and an EL Certificate 2018. It serves the North West including Manchester, Bolton, Wigan, Liverpool, Warrington, Blackburn, and Preston. Services include tarmacadam contracting, groundwork, drainage, and lining. It has worked for clients such as schools, sports centres, commercial premises, homes, hospitals, and car parks.

Around Adlington and the wider Chorley area, K Darlington & Son Ltd has earned consistent praise for its tarmac and asphalt surfacing work. Reviewers highlight the quality of the finished drive, with particular appreciation for how well the surface is rolled, leaving a smooth finish without visible lines. Reliability and punctuality recur throughout the feedback: crews arrive as promised, work moves forward without wasted time, and projects are finished promptly. Communication is another common thread, with several customers describing how the team grasped exactly what was wanted and provided valuable advice during the process.

Tidiness and the polite, professional manner of those on site are mentioned regularly. Named staff such as Jon and Sean receive specific thanks, and one account notes how a crew remained considerate of passing traffic while putting down a base coat. The firm handles residential driveways and larger surfacing jobs alike, and customers often remark on the value achieved relative to the standard of work. Several mention returning to the company or passing its details to others, reflecting a consistent level of service, while the durable finish and orderly sites remain the points that come up most.
